Biography

Hailing from the unlikely fusion of Norway and Italy, this enigmatic ensemble coalesced in the frostbitten city of Trondheim during the year 2016. United by a shared reverence for the macabre and the esoteric, Funeral Harvest set forth on a journey to explore the boundaries of musical extremity and introspective mysticism.

The early years of Funeral Harvest were marked by an arcane ritual that manifested as their inaugural creation, the "Bunker Ritual Rehearsal". Released in 2017 under the banner of Iron Bonehead Productions, tape's 300 copies became portals to an immersive experience, guiding listeners through the labyrinthine corridors of folkloristic Memento Mori and Dance Macabre intertwining with Satanism and self-sacrifice. The result was a sonic tapestry that transcended mere music, transporting the audience into a realm of transcendent experience.

In 2019, the band underwent a significant metamorphosis with a lineup change. As if summoning a new flesh into the very essence of their being, Funeral Harvest ushered in a new era with "Ond" taking his rightful place as the permanent drummer. This moment in the band's history heralded a radical transformation in their direction, as they delved deeper into their artistic vision.

The year 2019 also witnessed the release of the single "Ostende Nobis Domine Sathanas Potentiam Tuam," a haunting testimony to Funeral Harvest's evolution. A culmination of their influences, the track resonated with a haunting aura reminiscent of the 90s black metal aesthetic, casting a mesmerizing spell that transported listeners to a bygone era while still bearing the unique mark of Funeral Harvest.

As the world was plunged into uncertainty in the year 2020, Funeral Harvest found solace and expression through a new pact signed with Signal Rex. This pact marked the beginning of a new chapter, one etched in darkness and eternally resonant with the solemn echoes of Funeral Harvest's artistic vision. The Funeral Harvest 10" EP, unleashed upon the world, was a grave and grim masterpiece that encapsulated the entirety of the band's journey thus far. This release served as both a culmination of their past explorations and a foreshadowing of the uncharted territories that awaited their exploration.

Funeral Harvest, through their embodiment of both visceral intensity and introspective depth, stand as a testament to the enduring power of artistic evolution and expression. Their journey, a tapestry woven with threads of folklore, Satanism, and sonic extremity, continues to unfold, beckoning brave souls to venture into the abyss and unearth the darkness that resides within and beyond.

And now, "what lies ahead" is finally here with FUNERAL HARVEST's first full-length (2022). Elegantly titled Redemptio, the band's debut album is grand and garish, ceremonial and seditious, in equal measure. With a rejuvenated lineup that features "Enstad" Beyond Man guitarist alongside vocalist/guitarist "Nathas", bassist "K", and drummer "Ond", FUNERAL HARVEST's attack continues to be undeniably physical, but whereas a wobbly between hypnotic possession and demonic headbanging took hold prior, Redemptio races and rewinds from nearly chaotic violence to smoked-choked repose, creating a delirium that's impossible to resist. There exists a bestial impulse barely tamed, but the order in which they're delivered is anything but random. Razor-sharp songwriting is at a premium, then, as FUNERAL HARVEST judiciously keep their constructions taut and terrorizing: the nine-song album races to the finish in a swift-yet-satisfying 31 minutes.

Both more ghoulish and muscular than ever, FUNERAL HARVEST revitalize elder expressions of Norwegian black metal with Redemptio. Kneel and receive their sacrament.
